Justin Sun’s TRON may be setting new records of transaction volume and user accounts every day, but its critics can’t stop criticizing it for lack of dApps. That may change in 2019 though, as TRON seems to have started focusing particularly on one area that it can improve. That area is gaming, and there’re signs that TRON is going to focus a lot of its energies on it in this year. Want to know why we think so? Here’re a few of the recent developments:

Game.com partnership

TRON’s partnership with Game.com is unarguably the biggest development that reflects the interest of this network in gaming. Under the partnership, Game.com will launch several titles on the TRON blockchain, which will allow the players to use TRX for purchasing various elements of the games. The announcement of the partnership had said:

“Presently, the Pets’ Planet section, customized by Game.com for TRON, has been launched on tron.game.com, where players can use TRX, the official token of TRON, to purchase various pets, and experience pet matching, raising, growth and transactions, thus enjoying the companion of virtual pets. The Chinese version of Pets’ Planet has been available now at tron.game.com, while the international version is also well underway.”

Justin Sun had also said that gaming is a critical part of TRON’s blueprint. He had said:

“Within the blueprint of TRON, online gaming constitutes an important link. Our partnership with Game.com will further strengthen our position as the leader of the Internet 4.0, and allow us to add value to the application and development of blockchain.”

TRON Arcade

Another development that confirms the interest of TRON in gaming is the announcement of TRON Arcade program. The program was announced back in November, and as part of this program TRON is going to spend $100 million in next three years to spur the innovation in blockchain gaming. A major chunk of this money will be paid out as an incentive to the game developers for integrating TRX into their games. Justin Sun said at the time of announcement:

“TRON strives to tackle existing issues faced by the gaming industry by leveraging the open, transparent, and immutability of blockchain technology. TRON Arcade will play a crucial role in encouraging developers to join in our mission and provide the best blockchain gaming experience to users around the world.”

TRON Foundation’s Confirmation

In addition to these developments, the TRON Foundation itself also confirmed that it will be focusing extensively on the gaming scene in 2019. A tweet sent out from TRON Foundation’s official account said:

It’s nice to see that TRON has found a major area that it can improve with its crypto and blockchain capabilities. Now it will be very interesting to see how blockchain gaming scene changes in 2019 with efforts of TRON.
