Singapore Airlines (SIA), known for its world-class services has launched its digital blockchain wallet, KrisPay that allows members of KrisFlyer, carriers frequent flying programme, to convert air miles into digital currency.
With KrisPay- a miles-based digital wallet, members can use as little as 15 KrisPay miles to pay for services and items across airline’s 18 partner merchant which includes Pizza Express, Challenger, MI and gas stations. 15 KrisPay is equivalent to 7 cents in USD.
According to the release by the airline, more partner merchant will be added and customers can expect in-app promotions and app features in the coming month. The KrisPay App is available for download in Google Play store and iOS. The KrisPay miles are valid for six months once transferred to the wallet. Users can pay through KrisPay miles, just by scanning the QR code at the merchant and punching in the amount.
With its launch, KrisPay became the world’s first blockchain-based airline loyalty wallet which is developed in partnership with KPMG Digital Village and Microsoft.
SIA chief executive Goh Choon Phong said: “We are excited to be introducing KrisPay, a novel way for our KrisFlyer members to digitally access their miles at their fingertips, at any time.”
