HTC Unveils Exodus 1, World’s First Blockchain Phone, Shipping to Start in December

The much-hyped world’s first blockchain phone by HTC, Exodus 1 that was announced back in May is now up for pre-order and shipping will start from December. The company also revealed the actual specs of the blockchain phone that will be based on Android OS. HTC has also made it clear that the phone must be purchased with cryptocurrency.

The phone contains a digital wallet to store your digital currencies and is secured from the Android OS. Simply the wallet part and other operating systems are independent for enhanced security. It will have a social key recovery mechanism in case the phone is lost or you misplace the keys. You will able to recover all the lost data through a key management app. The company is also calling developers for early access version of the device, in order to improve upon the device.

The phone is priced 0.15 BTC or 4.78 ETH, which is equivalent to $960 in current price and will be available in 34 countries including U.S., Hong Kong, Singapore, New Zealand, the U.K. The phone will not be available in China due to regulatory complexities.

Exodus 1 will have 6″ display with 18:9 aspect ratio, 16 MP dual-camera & 8 MP selfie camera, storage space of 128 GB and 6GB RAM and 3,500 mAH battery. It has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor and runs on Android Oreo.
