Last week, we had reported that former Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) MLA Nalin Kotadiya had been arrested from Maharashtra, after being on the run for months.

Kotadiya had been on the run, ever since his name had cropped up during the interrogation of another suspect Kirit Paladiya, who was reportedly Shailesh Bhatt’s partner and the alleged mastermind in the case.

The Crime Investigation Department (CID) Gujarat had issued several summons against him and he had not responded to a single one. The CID, then moved an Ahmedabad-based court seeking him. The court then, gave a nod, and declared Kotadiya as a proclaimed offender.

Post that, Kotadiya was produced before a local court on Monday. He was sent to judicial custody as his week-long remand came to an end. The decision to send him to judicial custody was based on the fact that the Crime Investigation Department (CID), investigating the abduction and bitcoin extortion case, did not seek further remand, news portal DNA reported.

In similar news, an employee of Amit Bhardwaj, the mastermind behind GainBitcoin scam was given bail on the condition that Rs 45 Lakh was deposited in the victims’ account in Chandigarh court on Monday.

Vikash Aditya, one of Bhardwaj’s victims, told Crypto-News India, “A small victory and defeat today. Court ordered accused to deposit Rs 45 lakh which would be converted into fixed deposits (FD) and gave bail to Sanchit. I am taking it positively at least accused has to pay immediately and our money has been put into FD. Which will be given to us after we win the case which we will will definitely.”

For the uninitiated, Sanchit was one of the many agents who lured investors into investing in GainBitcoin.
