As per previous announcements, BitTorrent tokens (BTT) powered by Tron and peer-to-peer file sharing company, BitTorrent were launched on Monday.

Tron said that the new tokens were scooped up by the enthusiastic community in less than 15 minutes. While, there is no sure fire way to prove this, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Tron, Justin Sun put up a screenshot to authenticate the claim. The tweet was also shared by BitTorrent.

Ofcourse, there were some pissed off users that said this was nothing but high-end shilling. One user in reply to BitTorrent said, “It all was a scam , tried the whole 18 min to buy , but couldn’t !! They lie to everyone, they sell it to them self or to chosen ones !

Irrespective of whether the news is true or not, in an event like this, there are bound to be fraudulent websites looking to make a quick buck. Addressing that, BitTorrent issued an official statement saying, “The whole BitTorrent team wanted to thank you for your interest regarding our new token BitTorrent (BTT). Since its announcement on January 3rd, 2019, we registered an important number of fraudulent websites, ICOs, and airdrops offering so called BitTorrent (BTT).”

Stating that the company was working actively to bring down the fraudulent websites, the statement further said, “We wanted to confirm you that BitTorrent (BTT) will be exclusively available via our official airdrop program, and its trading will begin on February 12th, 2019 on selected exchanges that will be officially announced on our website and social media accounts.”

Sun, in a tweet said, “We are currently taking down the fake accounts offering so-called $BTT. Read this article and be careful!”

As earlier reported by Crypto-News India, Binance Launchpad, the exclusive token launch platform, under cryptocurrency exchange Binance announced that it would be launching, BitTorrent and Fetch.AI soon.

At the time, the exchange had said, “BitTorrent is a TRON-affiliated blockchain project for peer-to-peer file sharing. BitTorrent’s protocol is empowering a new generation of content creators with the tools to distribute their content directly to others on the web. BitTorrent’s new BTT token will allow BitTorrent peers to incentivize activities that lead to better file sharing, like using faster networks and enabling longer seeding periods.”

As the common adage goes, there is no smoke without fire, time will tell if Tron is 100% genuine or not, as the Initial Coin Offering (ICO) moves towards completion.
