When it comes to blockchain and crypto themed events in India, they’re often organized by private entities only. They also don’t observe the kind of crowd that is seen in other countries where blockchain and cryptocurrencies have been accepted by the governments. However, these things are set to change now because first government-backed blockchain summit is going to be held in India from February 22 – February 23.

Yep. Believe it or not, but it’s happening. Our government, which accepts the potential of blockchain half-heartedly by bashing crypto and embracing blockchain, has decided to support its first blockchain themed event. The event is being organized by Auxesis Group, a private blockchain company developing solutions for the banking sector. However, what makes this event different from others held until now is supported extended by Central Government’s Department of Science and Technology and the State Government of Uttar Pradesh. The venue of event is IIM Lucknow’s Noida Campus, and HRD Ministry will also be participating in it.

Now, since this event is being supported by the government itself, a number of officials from various government departments – including some from Finance Ministry – will be attending it. Some prominent decision makers attending and speaking at the event include:

  • Mr. Ravi Shankar Prasad, Law and IT Minister
  • Mr. Suresh Prabhu, Commerce and Industry Minister
  • Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Science and Technology Minister
  • Dr. Dinesh Sharma, Deputy CM, Uttar Pradesh

The website of event has also gone live, and it mentions a very interesting aim behind the event. It says:

“The summit is targeted towards enabling Indian government and ministries to speed up the process of developing a flourished blockchain and cryptocurrency ecosystem.”

It’s worth noting that this will be for the first time when ministers and decision makers from all relevant departments of Central Government and a State government will be sharing the stage with some prominent stakeholders of Indian as well as global blockchain community. You can imagine what community is expecting from this event now: some announcement regarding the much awaited crypto regulation that is being finalized since last month. It will be interesting to see whether any details are provided regarding that or not. We’ll be keeping an eye on the event and will let you know of all the details from there, so keep checking our updates!
