TRON Foundation’s BitTorrent token is now supported by CoinPayments crypto payment gateway, which means that it will be accepted by many retailers worldwide. The announcement was done this morning.
TRON’s BitTorrent token has been achieving new milestones of success with every passing day. Ever since the success of its sale held on Binance Launchpad it has consistently been the subject of positive press coverage, and the trend continues because of one reason after another. Now today an announcement done by the BitTorrent team is yet another success for their new token, as it has the potential to expand the use case of BTT even outside the BitTorrent and TRON ecosystem. How? Well, keep reading to figure out.
The thing is that BTT has got its very first support from a payments service provider today. Cryptocurrency payment gateway provider CoinPayments has announced its support for BTT, which means that now all those websites which accept crypto payments through its payment gateway will be able to accept payments in BTT as well. This will expand the reach of BTT very quickly to millions of businesses which accept crypto payments through CoinPayments gateway.
The announcement of support came in the form of a Medium post. In the post TRON Foundation Chief Justin Sun said:
“Coming this summer, BitTorrent Speed will be implemented into our popular Windows-based µTorrent Classic client to create a healthier ecosystem and a foundation where content creators can distribute their work directly across the web. In advance of this highly anticipated release, we look forward to working with CoinPayments and other partners to make BitTorrent (BTT) liquid in the online marketplace before BTT is fully integrated into our desktop and mobile products.”
Crypto payment gateway providers like BitPay and CoinPayments are emerging as easy tools to increase the reach of any particular token for various ICO projects. These gateways continue to increase their reach to as many merchants as possible, which means increased penetration and acceptance for their supported tokens as well. Therefore, it’s not surprising that major ICO projects that plan to make their tokens mainstream initially focus their efforts on obtaining support from these payment gateways. In the coming days it should not be surprising if some other payment gateways also start supporting BTT. Let’s wait and watch!
