World’s largest exchange Coinbase just announced that they would be rebranding their Cryptocurrency exchange GDAX to Coinbase Pro. Coinbase was built for beginners to acquire cryptocurrencies and sell them if needed. GDAX, on the other hand is a professional trading platform for advanced users to trade on.
With the new branding, GDAX users will now be able to go to pro.coinbase.com and continue trading. All previous transactions and balances from GDAX will automatically appear on Coinbase Pro.
According to the company, Coinbase Pro will be a redesigned platform that will be a lot more intuitive to trade on and have simpler deposit/withdrawal processes. Coinbase Pro will also have improved charts and a new consolidated portfolio called ‘My Wallets’ where users can see an overview of their orders and balances.
According to an official statement from Coinbase,
We are dedicated to building Coinbase Pro into not only a world class cryptocurrency exchange, but also a platform for active crypto traders. By enabling both investments and the utilization of cryptocurrency, we’re offering customers a unique opportunity to begin truly participating in the cryptocurrency ecosystem. For example, our vision is to give customers the ability to participate in services like staking and protocol voting that are distinct to crypto. As the decentralized ecosystem advances, we expect there will be many more opportunities for customers to interact with digital assets in new and unique ways.
Coinbase Pro will make use of the same pool of Coinbase and other products. Both GDAX and Coinbase Pro will exist till June 29, after which all users will only have the option of Coinbase Pro.
